York Shakespeare Project

... is committed to performing all of Shakespeare's known plays in York over a period of about 20 years.

In addition to staging the plays, the Project aims to provide an educational aspect to each production.

Founded as a charitable trust in 2001, we have so far staged 18 productions covering 21 of Shakespeare's plays and are on target to finish the complete plays in 2020. Recent productions have included Henry IV (parts 1 and 2) in St Martin-cum-Gregory Church, Micklegate; Much Ado about Nothing in Rowntree Park and at The Dell, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Troilus and Cressida at Upstage Centre, 41 Monkgate. We are participants in the RSC Open Stages initiative until the end of 2012.
